Cultural Exchange
Twinning gives us an opportunity better to understand and celebrate a range of aspects of French life. Be that learning more about everyday life, aspects of their history and traditions or celebrating some of their festivals or sporting activities.
Twinning is not confined to exchange visits alone but is enjoyed through our Association’s social events as well.
A Bastille Day garden party and French wines tasting evening are just two examples on our social calendar.
Lifelong friendships
Exchange visits enable us to get to know each other rapidly and to develop deep and lasting friendships. Just one visit, staying with someone, brings a closeness that is peculiar to twinning.
Members have become long-lasting friends, having been to their children’s weddings, had holidays together and shared their homes, often revisiting their hosts over a number of decades.
Language learning
No matter what your knowledge of French, you will be welcome to join us and participate in all our activities.
Twinning visits give us an opportunity to improve our knowledge and comfort in speaking each other’s language and, through this, gives another insight into our cultures.
Relaxed coffee and French conversation groups meet weekly.
Travel & hosting
Travelling to Clisson, seeing a bit of France and the beautiful Clisson countryside, sharing sporting events, seeing local culture, chatting, socialising and having fun together is an important part of our raison d’être. A range of French folk host our visits and we reciprocate with them.
For some this is a highlight of the Twinning Association’s programme but others simply enjoy joining in the activities of each hosting visit without being hosts themselves.
We normally alternate visits from and to Clisson each year.
